. When the Phillies decided not to choke they get hits and hits leads to runs. When any baseball fan watches them play, a fan looks for the squad to have that air of confidence. This confidence is what has been missing in previous outings and the fear of choking couldn’t be seen when one looks in their eyes.  It was replaced with a gleam of excitement.

Recently a baseball team came to Stofka to get help them with this problem of fear. Fear can be very crippling both on offense and defense. Fear will spread through a team like the plague. With these players Stofka helped them rewire their thoughts. If the thoughts started out in the area of fear and choking he begins to reconnect them back to positive baseball production. Most performance experts will not use the presenting issue like fear to create new neural pathways in an athlete that will take them to the results they want. In this case it connected them to produce more hits and throw more strikes.

Eliminating the doubt. The Phillies have been riddled this season with doubt. This has crippled their ability to play as a team. When doubt hits a baseball team each player questions their ability. This causes the player to be too much in their head and not letting go and playing good ball.

A baseball player who worked with Philly Hypnosis Sports  recently was trying to get ready for tryouts in front of the pro scouts.  This baseball player had this nagging thought of doubt. It was like a cloud that followed him around and he never knew when it was going to overtake him. When the doubt cloud hit, there was no batting production; errors were made in the field; and, his chances of being picked up were diminished. He found that when Stofka helped him turn the doubt cloud around into a cloud of thankfulness, happiness and fun everything changed. He was thankful for his ability to play at this level. Stofka recently worked with a College Basketball team. They were struggling with free-throw accuracy. He took the team members and had them make 100 free throws to get a baseline. Stofka customized a mental training hypnosis for them and then had them shoot another 100 free throws. After tabulating the difference between the before and after the basketball hypnosis, their overall percentage of free throws made increased by 9% from 73% to 82%. The best improvement was 24%. This all took place after a 2½ hr. practice.

Does this help in the future? In their next game, their field goal percentage improved by 15%. In the following game, our test players again made 87.5% of their free throws.

Recently Stofka described his experience while working with a College Basketball team. They were struggling with free-throw accuracy. He took seven of the team members and had them make 50 free throws to get a baseline. He then customized a mental training hypnosis for them and had them shoot another 50 free throws and tabulated the difference between the before and after hypnosis. Their overall percentage of completed free throws had increased by 8% from 73% to 81%. The Essentials on Fast Food Eating for Losing Weight

Weight Loss hypnosis, lose weight hypnosis, weiight managment hypnosis, diabetic hypnosisWith each passing year, life seems to get more and more hectic.  We are all so busy that we need to find shortcuts so that we can just stay afloat.  Todd Stofka, founder of Philly Hypnosis Performance says, “Trying to cook 3 meals at home for you and/or a family 7 days a week is almost impossible.  When you turn to fast food restaurants and sometimes you will, think carefully about the fat, calories and portions that typical fast foods serve up.:

Here are some facts about the fast food meals you might order for your family’s dinner:

McDonald’s - Juicy hamburgers with a side of fries sound delicious. But if you take a regular Double Quarter Pound Cheeseburger with a side of medium sized fries, you’ll see that you’re consuming approximately 60g of fat and 1,100 calories total (not to mention your supersized soda). If you’re on a 2,000 calorie diet, you would have met over half of that with only one meal.

Kentucky Fried Chicken - Their chicken is a popular choice for a quick and easy meal. But one original recipe chicken breast is approximately 21g of fat and 360 calories. If you have 2 chicken breasts from one of their popular family bucket meals, you’re looking at 42g of fat and 720 calories. This doesn’t include any side dishes that might come with the meal, such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, or potato wedges.

Pizza Hut Pizza – It’s so easy to come home exhausted and fall prey to the convenience of pizza delivery. A Large Pepperoni pan pizza has about 14g of fat and 270 calories per slice.

Most people would eat 2 slices of that pizza, which totals 28g of fat and about 540 calories. Add extra cheese or other toppings and the fat and calories can double.

Subway – You think you’re eating healthy, but it depends on what menu item you choose. A 6” Chicken Parmesan sandwich is approximately 18g of fat and around 500 calories. This doesn’t include any sides. Everything you add except raw veggies will boost the fat and calorie count.

Not all fast foods are created equal.  When you have no alternative, go to a fast food restaurant and make better choices.  McDonald’s has salads and grilled chicken.  KFC has grilled chicken wraps.  You can customize your pizza at Pizza Hut.  Ask for half the cheese or none at all.  Load it up with veggies.  Subway has salads and let’s you decide what goes on your sandwich.  Forego the cheese and load it up with veggies.

Last but certainly not least is “soda.”  There are reports coming out daily on the health risks of drinking soda, even diet soda.  Get used to drinking water with your meals and if you must have a soda, make it 12 oz. and use it as a dessert.

Make sure your goals are realistic

Everyone wants weight loss to be short and sweet.  A month from now I’ll be 30 pounds lighter!  Biologically speaking, consider the workings of your body.  If you lose more than 1 or 2 pounds a week, most likely you are simply losing water or tissue weight, which will quickly return, instead of burning fat.  To lose this 1 to 2 pounds a week, you need to burn between 500 and 1,000 more calories than you are taking in each day.  Consider this: if you keep at it every day, in less than 6 months you could be 50 pounds lighter!

Focus on your progress

Small achievable goals are more effective than the 30 pounds in a month goal.  Set up rewards for small successes, you are more likely to feel accomplished and motivated to continue.  For example, a 10 pound weight loss can be very impressive and entitle you to a reward (not food).  So, instead of looking at the total number of pounds you need to lose and focusing on the small achievable goal, your momentum to sustain your efforts at losing weight will be stronger with each goal met.

Make sure you are in it for the long haul

Many people set goals to lose weight for the summer, or for a specific date, such as a wedding.  We call this the “destination diet.”  The most effective strategy for weight loss is a long term one.  If you only focus on getting thin for summer, you may succeed, but by fall you will have put all the weight back on again.  The key is to recognize that starting a new lifestyle will bring you the most success in the long term, and it will make sure that you do not put back on any of your lost weight.

#1 – Skipping Breakfast

When undergoing a new diet or weight loss plan, many people take to tracking their progress by weighing themselves every day.  This can pose a problem to your weight loss efforts because your weight can fluctuate on any given day without regard to how hard you have been working.  The real measure of your weight change is your average weight over a longer period of time, like several weeks.  From day to day, your weight can change a great deal due only to how much water or salt you are retaining and this has nothing to do with real weight loss.  Another good method for determining how well you are doing with your weight loss is how your clothes feel.  Using your clothes as a b

Tyson won his first 19 fights by knockout after becoming a professional boxer at age 18 and he developed a reputation for being a particularly vicious and aggressive fighter, who would quickly charge down opponents at the opening of the first round.

The boxing icon now attributes the ferocity of his fights to a sports hypnotist, who he worked with several times a day at the request of his manager Cus D’Amato.

 He tells Britain’s Daily Telegraph, “Cus used to have me professionally hypnotized two or three times a day – before sparring, before training and before fights. My objective was to destroy.”

 When asked if he ever felt remorseful about the viciousness with which he attacked his opponents, Tyson replies, “No, because Cus didn’t like me to be sensitive like that. He wanted me to be emotionless. He said feelings mean nothing. Feelings have nothing to do with your life. The only thing feelings do is distract you.”

 A top, local golfer recently came to me for some help. He had been plagued with inconsistent performance when it came to tournament play. In the past 2 years he had not been able to move beyond districts. There was an internal frustration inside because he knew he could play better and yet those self-sabotaging moments had caused him to blow up on a hole resulting in a sabotaged round.

 From our sports assessment we began to take apart the sabotage. The sabotaging of a  round started with a bad shot, anger, failure to manage a mistake, the internal conversation, “I suck,” or “Now I am going to lose.”  Too many holes passed by before slipping into playing well. With sports hypnosis we began to rewire these thoughts and behaviors. This included how to focus on what he wanted to happen and learning how to forget the mistakes. As a result he took 2nd in districts, did great at regionals and got to represent his team at States! Join me in congratulating Paul Foley for having an amazing season!

What do you do when your best friend is food?

Life is full of ups and downs.  When your life seems to be in a downward spiral from broken or strained relationships, poor health, monetary issues, legal issues, stressors from every area of your life and you’re physically and mentally drained, sometimes bordering on depression, where do you turn?  For some people, they find solace in a hearty meal, sweet desserts or salty snacks.

The idea of eating to stuff down your emotions is not new.  You are not alone.  Food tends to become your friend, your best friend when you need a shoulder to cry on or just need a comforting sensation.  Food can become the crutch you lean on for unwavering support during a turbulent time.  Food, your friend, is always there when you need it.  It comforts you, temporarily!

More often than not, your relationship with food will begin to show on the scales.  As the numbers go up, you feel the tightness and discomfort in your clothes.  You turn down invitations from your human friends for an evening on the sofa with your best friend, food.

Break this cycle now! Find a focus.  Try doing something fun. Go shopping to find something special that you’ve always wanted or, perhaps, get a makeover to feel better about yourself. Anything that can help you build confidence will help you get over the chaotic emotions you’re feeling.

You could also try a new hobby or resume and old one that you’ve been putting off for so long.  You could join a local sports or fitness club.  Keeping yourself busy in body and mind will raise your spirits and give you a whole new perspective on your situation.  Moving your body will increase the oxygen to your brain, clear out the cobwebs and stagnation and leave you feeling invigorated.
